Like many people, (especially women), I tend to obsess about things. All the things that are not going the way that I hoped or planned. It can get overwhelming at times and as I have gotten older and hopefully wiser, I have learned it really can take things out of perspective.
My parents used to tell me, if I were in a group of 10 people and everyone wrote all of their problems on a piece of paper and put it into a bowl to chose your problem, you would nearly always want your own problems back. It taught me a great lesson. One that I still try to remember every day. At the end of the day, I can list all of my crazy problems big and small. But they all get compared and weighed against one thing…HEALTH.
The health of ourselves and the people that we love is truly the only thing that deserves our time and energy worrying about. All the rest, even financial fall by the waste-side when you put them up against health.
I always reflect on how lucky I am to have my health, and that my friends and family are all in relatively good health. But this time of year always makes me take a little extra time to stop and think about all of my blessings and how fortunate I really am.
